TOKYO— All Nippon Airways (ANA) is preparing to introduce a new Pokémon-themed Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to international service this September, giving passengers a chance to fly aboard an aircraft covered in characters from the popular franchise.
The Green Pokémon Jet, registered JA923A, will make its scheduled international debut on September 18, 2026, as part of a wider celebration marking Pokémon’s 30th anniversary and ANA’s 40th anniversary of international flights.
The aircraft will connect Tokyo with several major international destinations, including Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Honolulu International Airport (HNL) in the United States.
It will also serve Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in Canada, alongside destinations across Asia and the Pacific, although ANA notes that aircraft assignments can change because of operational requirements.
ANA Green Pokémon Jet
The Boeing 787-9 features Pikachu alongside Grass-type Pokémon that have appeared as starter partners throughout the game series.
Characters including Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko and Grookey form part of the distinctive exterior design, giving the widebody aircraft a livery that represents the Grass type.
ANA has designed the aircraft as more than an exterior livery. Passengers will encounter Pokémon-themed elements inside the cabin, including special headrest covers, commemorative products, and custom cocktail napkins on international flights.
The airline is also offering specially designed cups and other items as part of the anniversary collaboration.
The Green Pokémon Jet forms part of a three-aircraft program created for 2026. ANA has already introduced the Red Pokémon Jet, a Boeing 787-8 registered JA819A, while a Blue Pokémon Jet based on a Boeing 737-800 is planned for domestic operations later in the year.
US Routes Included
The Green Pokémon Jet will operate from both Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) and Narita International Airport (NRT), giving travelers in the United States and Canada opportunities to encounter the aircraft on ANA’s long-haul network.
ANA’s current schedule lists Seattle and Honolulu among the Haneda routes, while Vancouver is also included.
The aircraft’s inaugural international service is scheduled for September 18, with ANA warning that route assignments may change depending on flight conditions and operational requirements. The published schedule currently covers operations through March 27, 2027.
The first flight will also coincide with a new Pokémon GO collaboration at selected Japanese airports.
From September 18, participating locations will feature special PokéStops and Gyms, while players can access Pokémon-themed raids and Timed Research connected with the Green Pokémon Jet.
Pokémon Experience
The new aircraft continues ANA’s long-running partnership with Pokémon, which began with the first Pokémon Jet in 1998.
The 2026 program combines the franchise’s 30th anniversary with four decades of ANA international operations, creating one of the airline’s largest themed aircraft campaigns.
For aviation enthusiasts, JA923A will be the aircraft to watch as the Green Pokémon Jet enters service.
Its international deployment will bring the distinctive Grass-type livery to major airports in North America, Asia, and the Pacific while extending ANA’s Pokémon-themed passenger experience beyond Japan.
